On Friday, December 2, 2005 Governor Codey and the state of New Jersey provided $25,000 as an initial gift to begin a fund to ease the financial burden for students to travel to Phoenix, Arizona to watch the Scarletknights take on Arizona State University in the Insight Bowl.

Subsequently Athletic Director Bob Mulcahy and the Rutgers Athletic Department matched this gift with an additional $25,000. Several generous alumni and friends of the school have come forward in support of this effort as well and the total amount raised as of December 6, 2005 is $86,000
